About LivePlayer
A free browser toolkit for playing, testing, debugging, and embedding M3U8 / HLS streams.
What is LivePlayer
LivePlayer is a free, browser-based M3U8 and HLS player and stream tester. Paste a stream URL to check whether it plays, spot common playback problems, and generate embed code—without installing desktop software.
Who it is for
- Developers validating HLS links before shipping a feature
- Publishers checking whether a live or VOD stream still works
- Support teams reproducing playback issues across browsers
- Site owners who need a quick embed snippet for a public stream
What we built
- Online Player
Play and preview M3U8, HLS, DASH, and MP4 URLs in the browser.
- M3U8 Analyzer
Inspect playlist type, variants, codecs, tracks, and segment counts.
- M3U8 Downloader
Download public HLS playlists locally with pause, resume, and retries.
- M3U8 to MP4
Convert browser-accessible playlists with FFmpeg running in your browser.
- Embed Builder
Generate an iframe snippet for your own website.
How it works
- Playback, analysis, download, and conversion run in your browser whenever possible.
- Stream URLs you paste are fetched by your browser to talk to the media source. We do not require you to upload private video files to our servers to use the player.
- Some sources may fail because of CORS, expired tokens, DRM, or private access rules. That is expected for many real-world streams.
- Only test or share streams you are authorized to access.
Who runs this site
LivePlayer is an independently maintained project. It started from a simple need: a fast, free way to test M3U8 and HLS links in the browser without jumping between desktop apps and one-off demos.
