Copy a sample URL below, paste it into LivePlayer, and confirm the player works before you debug your own stream.

Open free M3U8 / HLS player

Use a public M3U8 test URL when you need a known-good HLS stream. If the sample plays in LivePlayer but your own link fails, the player is probably fine and the problem is with your source.

Only test streams you are authorized to access. The samples below are public demo playlists commonly used for browser playback checks.

How to use these sample streams

  1. Copy one of the M3U8 URLs below.
  2. Open LivePlayer.
  3. Paste the URL and press Play.
  4. Watch for 20 to 60 seconds.
  5. If the sample works, paste your own stream and compare.

You can also inspect playlist structure with the M3U8 Analyzer.

What a good sample test tells you

  • Sample plays, your stream fails: focus on your URL, tokens, CORS, segments, or DRM.
  • Sample also fails: check browser extensions, network filters, or page-level HTTPS issues.
  • Sample plays only in Safari: compare native HLS support versus MSE-based playback in other browsers.

A short comparison checklist

  1. Play a public sample in LivePlayer.
  2. Play your stream in the same browser.
  3. Open DevTools Network and compare playlist requests.
  4. Note 403, 404, CORS, or mixed-content errors.
  5. Inspect your playlist in the M3U8 Analyzer if the manifest loads.

FAQ

Why should I use a public M3U8 test stream?
A known-good sample helps you separate player problems from source problems. If the sample plays but your stream does not, the issue is usually the URL, server, or access policy.
Are these streams free to use for testing?
These are commonly used public demo streams for playback testing. Use them only for testing and verification, and respect each provider’s terms.
What if a sample stream stops working?
Demo endpoints can change. Try another sample on this page, then re-test your own URL. Also check CORS, HTTPS, and whether the link has expired.
